In 2008, the ever so talented “Kills” released the album “Midnight Boom” which was their 3 LP, but arguably their best album to date. On April 5, 2011, they claimed in an interview in Rolling Stone Magazine, “This is our masterpiece, no doubt the best one we’ve done so far.” Lets just see what’s really going on in The Kills “Blood Pressures.”
The first track is called “Future Starts Slow”… No Shit! This song is sort of an effortless song thats not very exciting. In fact “Future Starts Slow” is an excellent title for this track because all the song after this on progressively get more powerful and powerful. One song that I really enjoyed was “Satellite” because it sounds really original. It has a cool dance rhythm where the guitar comes in on the down beats which makes it almost sound like something The Dead Weather would do, (considering that the lead vocalist is also in The Dead Weather.)
This album have many more softer tunes than their usual albums do… such as the songs “Wild Charms” and “The Last Goodbye.” “The Last Goodbye” is one song that I’m still struggling to get on board with. It’s not a bad song, but it’s just so… different because they have violins and cellos and all that jazz in it. It’s good, but takes a little of getting used to.
“You Don’t Own The Road” is one of the cooler edgier songs you may come across on Blood Pressures, simply because of the small amount of distortion on the vocals and the old feel of when they first released “Keep On Your Mean Side” in 2003.
As this album comes to an end, the last song, “Pots and Pans” is also an awesome song. It’s a heavy blues song with a lot of different percussion instruments and possibly some pots and pans literally used in the making of this song. I really loved.
So, I’m prepared to give this album a strong 7, maybe a light 8 out of 10 stars.
Did I love it… no. Was it descent enough, absolutley.

Finally, the highly anticipated album “The King of Limbs has a set due date of March 29. It’s a short album, running smoothly at only about 34 minutes, but it’s powerfully intriguing. It seems like some of the tracks on this LP could have been B-Sides to Thom Yorke’s Solo album “The Eraser.”
To kick things off, they started with a track called “Bloom.” I really enjoyed it. After a couple of weeks of this album, I am of the opinion that “Bloom” is Radiohead’s best opening track of all their albums, even better than Airbag. I really can’t comprehend people who don’t like this. I don’t want to sound pretentious but open up your ears and listen to the soundscapes and ask yourself what other band in history could create this? Also, Jonny Greenwood’s talent as a composer is shown significantly in this song and the whole album. Simply a stunning piece of music.
I didn’t enjoy the other tracks as much as “Bloom”, because it really felt like they played it safe for all the other songs and never really went all out and composed something spectacular. They all revolved around the first track “Bloom.” For example, the song “Feral” is like clone of “Bloom.” On one track called “Give Up The Ghost” was a beautiful acoustic song that is a cool layed back lazy-dazy tune. It’s kept simple and to the point. It just consists of different chord variations in the key of D major.
Other tracks such as “Separator,” “Morning Mr. Magpie,” and “Codex” didn’t really stand out that much. They all sounded a little boring and didn’t blow me away. Like I said, they all felt like they were played safe and didn’t try anything new.
All together I’m feeling a strong 6.5 out of 10 stars.
